Midterm Exams

Please see below some important Information about Midterms Exams at FRJH:

• Midterms are scheduled for the week of January 20 - 24, 2025.

• All students will attend regular classes during exam week.

• During exam week (Monday periods 1-4 and Tuesday to Friday periods 1-2), all students will stay in homerooms and teachers will move from class to class. This will ensure minimal disruption to class.

• School Start and End times, Lunch and Recess times, and Buses will all follow the normal Schedule.

• All Students who are scheduled to write Midterm Exams are expected to attend.

• If a student is absent from a Midterm Exam, a family/caregiver is required to email shanewelcher@nlschools.ca with the rationale for the absence and to establish a plan to complete the Midterm. Plans will be developed on a case by case basis. 

• Please review “Student Guidelines For Examinations” with your child.

• Case managers will communicate with those students who receive support from the Service Delivery Team to ensure accommodations are arranged and in place for their exams

• All Exams are 1 hour in length.

• As we approach examinations, we understand that students may experience stress as part of their preparation. While examinations are one important way to demonstrate learning, they represent just one part of each student’s overall Assessment Portfolio. A certain level of stress can be healthy, contributing to resilience and coping skills that serve them well in future challenges.
